DaangDokyu tackles filmmaking amid COVID-19 pandemic

The DaangDokyu Festival of Philippine Documentaries will host an online discussion on "Filmmaking in the Time of COVID" on September 30.

The online discussion will feature Sundance Festival Programmers Ania Trzebiatowska, Stephanie Owens, and Sudeep Sharma.


The discussion will be moderated by DaangDokyu's Festival Director, Monster Jimenez.


Sundance is the largest film festival in the US. DaangDokyu said, "As one of the most prominent institutions at the forefront of independent cinema, the Sundance Film Festival has launched several programs to connect with film artists all over the world since the start of the pandemic."


During the online discussion, the Sundance programmers will speak with Filipino filmmakers about their experiences in making documentaries in the Philippines amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The DaangDokyu festival this year is scheduled from September 19 to November 5 at Cine Adarna at the University of the Philippines.


It will be streaming the films via https://www.daangdokyu.com/watchnow/.


DaangDokyu showcases documentaries from the early days of Philippine cinema and television until the present.


The festival is headed by filmmakers Jewel Maranan, Baby Ruth Villarama, Kara Magsanoc-Alikpala, and Jimenez.
