PH ASEAN digital art contest on COVID-19 Sept. 8 to Oct. 15

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) of the Philippines is calling for entries to the "The Philippines ASEAN Digital Art Contest 2020" with the theme "Imaging ASEAN Amid COVID-19."


On its website, the NCCA said the art competition is part of its commitment to ASEAN in the 2020 Year of ASEAN Identity.


The NCCA urges Filipinos to create digital art that "reflect the cultural uniqueness and identity that is shared by ASEAN Member States."



Among the forms of digital art accepted in the competition are: Graphic Poster; Web Comic; Fractal/Algorithmic Art; Pixel Art; Digital Photography; Photo-painting; Manual Vector Drawing; Integrated Art / Mixed Media and Hybrid Painting, Computer-Generated Painting, among others.


The NCCA said the digital artworks must focus on the challenges and/or opportunities faced by the ASEAN during the COVID-19 pandemic such as:

  • ASEAN community's political, economic, and socio-cultural concerns

  • ASEAN's health care concerns;

  • ASEAN's art concerns, including materials, production, exhibitions, and

  • Personal concerns (self, family, and community as part of the ASEAN region).

The competition is open to all Filipinos, 18 years old and above.


The original digital artworks will be accepted from September 8 (12:01 a.m.) until October 15, 2020 (11:59 p.m.)
